What Dhikr Is
Dhikr is a personalized Quran companion that helps you maintain your connection to the Quran through daily verses, reflections, and gentle reminders. Your reflections are private and sacred to us.
What We Collect
- Account information — When you sign in with Quran Foundation OAuth, we receive your user identifier (sub claim). We do not access your password.
- Reflections — Your written reflections on verses are stored as Notes via the Quran Foundation Notes API, attached to your account. They are visible only to you.
- AI memory context — A summary of your onboarding intent and recent reflections is stored in Supabase so the AI can reference your past words when generating prompts. This is keyed to your Quran Foundation user ID.
- Reading activity — Bookmarks, streaks, and goals are managed through Quran Foundation User APIs and stored on their servers, not ours.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not serve ads.
- We do not sell, share, or monetize your personal data.
- We do not use third-party analytics that track personal data. No Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Segment.
- We do not store your Quran Foundation password or OAuth tokens on any third-party server. Tokens are stored in encrypted, HTTP-only cookies on your browser.
- We do not read or access other users' reflections.
Third-Party Services
- Quran Foundation — Authentication, Quran content, user data (bookmarks, notes, streaks). See: quran.com/privacy
- Anthropic (Claude API) — AI-generated reflection prompts and memory recall. Your reflections are sent to Claude to generate personalized responses. Anthropic does not use API inputs for model training.
- Supabase — Hosts a single database table for AI memory context (onboarding intent and recent reflection summaries).
- Vercel — Hosts and serves the application. Vercel Analytics (if enabled) is privacy-friendly and does not use cookies or track personal data.
Deleting Your Data
You can delete your Dhikr data at any time. Deleting your Quran Foundation account will remove all associated data (reflections, bookmarks, streaks) from Quran Foundation servers. To delete your AI memory context from our Supabase database, use the account deletion option in the Settings page, or contact us directly.
